What happens after the beta
Two commitments, written down here so they're checkable later:
- Planning a route stays free. Drawing, shade, crossings, sidewalks, elevation and GPX export are the app. They aren't going behind a paywall.
- Nothing starts charging silently. If a paid tier ever launches, existing accounts get told in advance, and staying on the free tier will be a choice you don't have to make in a hurry.
Why there's a paid tier at all
Some of what this does costs real money per request — routing, and reading canopy rasters out of very large files. Right now that's small enough to absorb. If it stops being small, the honest options are a paid tier or ads, and it isn't going to be ads.
Beta means beta. Data coverage varies by city, the shade model has real limits, and things will change. If something's wrong or missing, the feedback button on any page is read by a person.
